Village Meeting notes9 Aug 01
Okay, this was a tight, packed meeting.
I don't have a lot of exact numbers, but here's the gist.
Camps:
Orange
Discovery
MCL
BSTV
Officers:
Yours truly
transpo
talent
info
finance
New business
Cows system (cooperative waster stations) approved on the understanding that,
because of the dance floor, our station will probably run low first.
Other camps should keep that in mind and adjust behaviours appropriately.
No further discussion.
Power approved for potty decoration. All other considerations will be voluntary only.
Continuing issues
Money:
Current village head count is below 50. Less than $300 collected.
All village members are requested to pitch in their $25 by Saturday, Aug 11. Rob is back.
At current numbers, we will be very short on funds. Even if we drop one truck
(no bikes, no personal items), Truck cost will be about $2000 plus gas.
Add other expenses (spare bulb, cabling, turntable rebuild) and we could be
looking at more than $3000. To get the things we want, costs could run above $5000.
This would require 200 people to join and pitch in. More people are needed NOW!
Also, other fund raisers are needed.
Transpo
As above, the trucks, at this time, will cost us over $3000; we're still shooting
for the best deal, but that looks like our minimum. Because of our current financial
standing, we must minimize costs in all ways possible.
With approximations on the stage requirements, and a firm idea of the whump system
(2.5 feet of back wall plus two large cabs that can have stuff on them), we may only
be able to carry the stage, sound and arches plus whatever can be fit inside the
arches and liquid containers. Individual camp extras beyond the structures may not
be able to fit in.
Stage
We have 10 cabs of sound, amps, and turntables. We still need a mixer. Also because
of financial considerations, we will not be providing a mixing board for the bands.
Power needed for the system will be at least 7k. Christian says that anything else
running on a 10k genny will flicker during the bass beats. He adds, however, that
the last guy he used for power provided him a 75k genny for the price of a 10k.
He'll discuss it with him tomorrow and I'll bug him about it tomorrow night. :)
We need to know the volume taken by the stage ASAP to determine spacial needs.
Circle
It has been proposed that we build the camp arches this weekend, then determine
if we have the resources to build and transport the extra arches not leading to
theme camps. If not, the village may be shifted into a pent/hex-agonal shape
(depending on dream theatre). No vote was carried, but general agreement was met.
Space
The Magic/Orange house is burnt. We may not have meetings there in the future,
and this may be our last weekend to work there. Let's get going on the Faisdodo place.
Centralized meeting zone for the last couple of times is needed. Contact me with ideas.
Power
Calib was elected as electrical coordinator. He will be coordinating all power needs.
Please give him an idea of what power your camp(s) will be using. Contact info forthcoming.
Party
It was decided to throw a village fund raising party. Tentative plans will be to
have the location at Basswerks, use the Insulin sound system, village workers and
all contacts for e-mail. DJs: Todd Spero, Phil Evans, Brian (Moontribe), Trevor
Wyse (Interspace), Petey (moontribe), Friar Tuck (Basswerks), an Orange DJ, and
Tad (Integral). All details subject to confirmation. $15 donation. Flyer design
by Phil. Lineup by Todd. Phone line by Adam. Stress by Tedward. :)
All clean e-mail lists should be used.
300 people at $15 is $4500 plus water sales. This should provide us with enough
money to get a third truck, but only if we get the place packed silly, so start
the buzz now. Send e-mail to samsara@tedward.org
for the info list. An auto-reply is set up now.
