Village Manifesto

Theme

The theme of the Village will be Rebirth. Each camp should focus on some part of the cycle of rebith...even if only tongue-in-cheek.

Monolith-henge

The village circle will be a stonehenge of arches. Three monoliths to an arch (each one 1x4x9' in size), with each arch leading to a theme camp. The ideal number of camps will be 8 but there's always room for more. Each camp will be responsible for the artistic theme of the Monolith arch, so long as it conforms to the basic form.

The artistic aspects of the arches are left entirely to each camp. The monoliths in front of the Discovery, for example, will be the flattest, deadest, black, smooth surface to be found. We would also like to paint each monolith with invisible UV paint in star patterns. At the base of each arch, we'll place a black light on each side to illuminate the paint.

The outer circle

We're pretty flexible about the type of camps allowed in the village. So long as they are actual theme camps intended to provide a new rebirth experience. Registered theme camps are preferred, however, if a good camp is formed after the June 30th registration deadline, council will still concider it's entry.

The inner circle

The inner circle will feature the village stage. We would love to have a large variety of events held here: weddings, performance art pieces, raves, etc. Natalie was elected as the coordinator for these events. You can e-mail her for more info. Also, we are discussing the possibility of art sculptures and other installations around the stage.

Organization

Each theme camp that joins gets one representative on the council that will decide financial and organizational matters of the village. Decisions will be made jointly by consensus with tie breaking proxy staying with the village organiser and veto powers [concerning gross artistic changes] staying with Tedward (original village designer).

Large camps of people not participating with a theme camp will receive council representation, however, they may not be allowed to vote on certain matters, particularly village artistic matters. Special service providers (like the artistic coordinator, achitect, Leave No Trace coordinator, etc.) will each recieve a full seat on the council, despite camp affiliation.

Village council has decided that each village participant shall donate $100 in cash or materials to village resources. Also, village participants are required to put in a share of work to village structures beyond their theme camp/arch. Certain participants that put in exemplary service to the village may have the material donations deferred.
